My little Trinity

We were on the way to see Nine Inch Nails, Coldplay etc. at the Pemberton music festival when we were suddenly pulled over by the RCMP.  All the seats were full so Ava was in the back sitting on the floor with various old bike parts and fish heads.  We were pulled over because Tina didn’t have her seatbelt on and when the Mountie was doing the typical flashlight search of everyone in the car I realized that Ava was in the back and thus couldn’t be belted up.  I just knew I was going to get arrested for reckless child endangerment and Tina fined for the seatbelt violation.  He smiled and said since everyone else was buckled up he would let us go with a warning.  Without any prompting Ava had silently covered herself with a Hello Kitty blanket and lay still during the whole procedure.  When asked how she knew what to do she said “I just knew it was the right thing to do”.  I would like to claim superior parenting skills and training but we both know it was the innate Buchan Police Evasion Gene that was responsible for her quick response.  Someday I hope she’ll find the man she loves and that he won’t ever press charges.

seriously this man and his family is cooler than you’ll ever be, despite — or even on account of — the “NIN, Coldplay, etc.” shout out
